Patrick Leonard Pulls Off Simultaneous Freeroll and $530 Tournament
Patrick Leonard, an ambassador for PartyPoker, played a freeroll and a $530 tournament at the same time. Leonard played in The Tuesday 500 with a buy-in of $530 and a guarantee of $100,000. Leonard also played in the WPT 500 freeroll, where tournament tickets were up for grabs.
Leonard finished 14th in the $530 tournament, earning $1,645. In the freeroll, Leonard finished 629th, winning 21 cents.
Leonard's performance in the freeroll was notable as he was the chip leader for a significant portion of the tournament. After his elimination, he posted a sad emoji on Twitter, to which a follower joked, “I observe a person who got 21 cents. What are you complaining about?”

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
