Patrick Antonius and Tom Dwan's High-Stakes Poker Showdowns

In the world of high-stakes poker, Patrick Antonius and Tom Dwan have been making headlines with their intense cash game sessions. Antonius, known for his dislike of long sessions, played just 16 hands on Full Tilt and walked away with a impressive $52,000. This quick session showcased his strategic prowess and efficiency in high-stakes games.

Tom Dwan, on the other hand, had a more extensive session, playing around 10,000 hands. Notably, he engaged in a 7,000-hand battle against Scott "URnotINdanger2" Palmer in a PLO $50/$100 game, resulting in a $100,000 loss. Despite this setback, Dwan managed to end the day in the plus, earning $12,000. Dwan's relentless pursuit of new challenges is evident as he plans to finish two duels before the WSOP Europe, though it's unclear if one of them is with Antonius.

Daniel Negreanu, another prominent poker figure, reported his biggest online win of $118,000 playing NLH $100/$200 on PokerStars. Negreanu is aiming to play 50,000 hands to assess his online cash game prospects, having already played nearly 10,000 hands with a minus $43,000 result. Additionally, Scott "URnotINdanger2" Palmer has joined the ranks of PokerNews Strategy instructors, and the platform has released the second part of a free video by Randy "nanonoko" Lew, featuring NLH $1/$2 on three 6-max tables. Jonathan Duhamel shared his strategies and experiences from the final table of the World Series of Poker, highlighting his aggressive playstyle and emotional control.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
