Offset Sued and Shot in a Week of Casino Chaos
Rapper Offset has had a tumultuous week involving casinos. On one hand, he was shot at the Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood, Florida last week. On the other, Motor City Casino filed a lawsuit against him over $100,000 worth of unpaid losses. Offset, whose real name is Kiari Kendrell Cephus, took out a six-figure credit line during a visit to Motor City Casino in March 2024.
The lawsuit, which alleges breach of contract, fraud, and more, came just days before the shooting. The casino attempted to withdraw the money directly from Offset’s account after not being able to contact him, but there was not enough money in the account to cover the debt.
The shooting took place in the valet area of the Hard Rock after he and friends allegedly got in an altercation with fellow rapper Lil Tjay and his crew. Lil Tjay was arrested for disorderly conduct as part of the melee and released from jail the following day. The shooter in the case has not been identified; authorities are working to determine who fired the shots. A representative for the rapper told TMZ: “We are working toward a resolution.” The rapper is expected to recover and a representative noted that he is “stable and being closely monitored.”

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
