Mike McDonald Launches PokerShares: The Evolution of BankOfTimex

Mike McDonald, a well-known figure in the poker community, has launched a new platform called PokerShares. This platform allows users to buy shares in poker tournaments or bet on various poker events, marking an evolution from his previous project, BankOfTimex, which he started in 2013.

PokerShares, launched in early 2017, is designed to provide a more comprehensive betting experience. Users can buy shares in any player in any tournament, with a coefficient of 2.21 for the 'Request Any Player' feature. The platform is licensed to operate in 15-20 countries, excluding the United States.

Mike McDonald and his team sell shares and set coefficients, guaranteeing payouts. The motivation behind PokerShares is to make a profit while improving the poker economy. Many players often deceive their close ones and fans by offering unjustified coefficients. PokerShares aims to minimize such practices by providing a transparent and fair betting environment.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
