Mike Matusov's Worst Hand in 26 Years of Poker Career

Mike Matusov, a seasoned poker player with 26 years of experience, found himself in an unusual situation during a WSOP Online 2021 event. While streaming his game in the WSOP #11 event, Matusov played what he considers the worst hand of his career.

Matusov had 10-J and 58 big blinds when he played the hand. He did not deliver 10 blinds to the pot, a decision he later regretted. "If someone wants to laugh, I played a hand worse than ever in 26 years of poker today in the stream! I still can't believe what I did. This shows that even great players make big mistakes," Matusov wrote on Twitter.

About 30 minutes after this unfortunate hand, Matusov folded his cards and left the tournament. Fans and followers were quick to react, with many expressing their surprise and disappointment at the move. Despite this setback, Matusov remains a formidable player in the poker community, and his fans are eager to see him bounce back from this mistake.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
