Microgaming Returns to Poker as Las Vegas Casinos Face Major Changes

Microgaming is set to debut poker into their casino offerings only five months after they shut up shop in the online poker business. Microgaming left the online poker business with a comment that it was “not the end for poker at Microgaming.”

Hold’Em Poker will be offered on Microgaming’s online casino. Microgaming's Hold’Em Poker is a sophisticated brand of classic Texas hold’em which aims to immerse players in a realistic poker room environment, delivering an exclusive online casino experience.

Three card rooms on The Strip have closed their doors for good: The Mirage, Excalibur, and Mandalay Bay. The Mirage Casino has a lot of history, and Daniel Negreanu sounded sad at the news of its closure. None of these card rooms bothered to reopen on June 4th when allowed to do so. The Circa Resort & Casino has reopened as an over-21’s only resort. Circa owner Derek Stevens told the Las Vegas Review-Journal, “I’m feeling great. Opening this is obviously great for downtown (and) great for all of Las Vegas. Fifteen-hundred new jobs is pretty awesome, particularly at this time.”

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
