MGM Resorts to Build Casino in Osaka, Japan
MGM Resorts has announced plans to construct a casino in Osaka, Japan. This move comes after Japan legalized integrated resorts, which include casinos, in specific zones. The casino is planned to be built on an artificial island in Osaka Bay named Yumeshima, known as the 'Dream Island'.
Governor of Osaka, Hirofumi Yoshimura, confirmed that MGM Resorts is the first and only company to announce casino plans in Osaka. The casino is expected to be completed and ready to receive visitors in the latter half of the 2020s.
This development marks a significant step in Japan's gaming industry, as the country has been preparing the legislative framework for such ventures since 2018. However, many gaming giants have been hesitant due to various challenges. MGM Resorts' decision to build a casino in Osaka could pave the way for other companies to follow suit.
