Mattias Eybinger Shares Insights on High-Stakes Poker Hands
Poker player Mattias Eybinger recently shared his insights on high-stakes poker hands, detailing his strategy and decisions in several notable sessions. Eybinger played several sessions at $500/$1,000 and one at $500/$1,000/$2,000, providing a deep dive into his thought process and the nuances of high-stakes gameplay.
In one of the hands, O Konstantin opened with a 2.5BB raise on the button, and Mattias defended the big blind. Mattias considered his hand strong enough to defend regardless of whether the opponent checked or bet. On the turn, Mattias made a value bet with a top pair, but on the river, his hand did not look as strong. He decided to make another value bet on the river, considering the opponent's possible hands. Mattias chose a smaller bet size on the river to avoid folding out weaker hands.
In another hand, Mattias caught a dream flop but chose to check-call instead of check-raising. On the river, Mattias realized he should have bet aggressively with his flush, considering the opponent's likely hands. He mentioned that he played a hand with offsuit Broadway cards from the cut-off position, noting that Victor Malinovsky defended the big blind in that hand.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
