Swedish Poker Pro Martonas Returns to Full Tilt with a $2M Debt

Martonas, a Swedish player, returned to Full Tilt with a negative balance of $2 million. Martonas had a tumultuous history on Full Tilt, with significant wins and losses. In August 2009, he won nearly $2.5 million in matches against top players like Phil Ivey, Dwan, Antonius, and Benjamin, but then lost over $2.62 million in the following days.

Phil Galfond tweeted about playing against Phil Ivey and losing a significant amount of money. Galfond mentioned that he made the same mistake of playing against Ivey and managed to survive, but not everyone was so lucky. Luukie21 lost a substantial part of his bankroll in a high-stakes game against Ivey, who won nearly $700,000.

Tom Dwan and Patrick Antonius resumed their high-stakes poker challenge on Full Tilt. The challenge, known as the 'Durrrr Challenge,' has seen both players win and lose significant amounts. Recently, Dwan won $480,000, increasing his overall lead to $2 million. Despite the high stakes, the challenge is far from over, with around 10,000 hands left to play.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
