Live Poker in Singapore: A Growing Scene with New Opportunities

Singapore's live poker scene is on the rise, with two integrated resorts, Marina Bay Sands & Resorts World Sentosa, offering a range of table gaming and live poker options. Marina Bay Sands & Resorts World Sentosa are the two integrated resorts in Singapore that offer live poker.

Locals must pay SG$100 to enter the casinos, while foreigners can enter for free. This fee is intended to deter those who cannot afford potential gambling losses. Cash games at Resorts World Sentosa run around the clock with stakes starting at SG$5-SG$10 and rising to SG$100/SG$200 at the weekends. The rake at Resorts World Sentosa is 5% for pots of $100 or more, with a cap of $50. This makes it a decent deal for small-stakes players. However, the rake can be high at higher stakes, and all pots are raked, including those that don't see a flop.

Recent regulatory changes have made home games more accessible. The new Gambling Control Act (GCA) allows games in legal dwellings and minor businesses to apply for licenses to run such games. This shift is expected to boost interest in poker and encourage competition between casinos, potentially leading to more tournament action.
