Meet the lesser-known champions of the World Series of Poker
The World Series of Poker (WSOP) has seen many champions over the years, but some remain relatively unknown despite their significant victories. Mansour Matloubi is one such champion who won the main WSOP tournament in 1990. He was the first non-American to achieve this feat, receiving $895,000 for his win.
Brad Dougherty is another notable champion who won the WSOP main event in 1991 and received $1,000,000. Dougherty lives in Las Vegas and runs a website offering poker lessons, where he discusses strategies and provides consultations.
Noel Furlong, an Irish businessman, won the WSOP main event in 1999. Furlong is known for turning his father's billiard hall into a successful carpet warehouse business. His victory in the WSOP added to his already impressive business acumen, showcasing his skills both in entrepreneurship and poker.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
