Léo Souza Wins Big in Global Million$ Tournament, Reflects on Career

Léo Souza, a professional poker player residing in Balneário Camboriú, has had another remarkable achievement in his career. On March 3, 2024, he won a significant prize in the Global Million$ tournament, marking one of his biggest wins to date. This tournament, held on GGPoker, has a buy-in of US$50 and is conducted every Sunday, attracting numerous players.

Léo Souza started Day 2 with a healthy stack and managed his chips well, reaching the final table as the chip leader. He finished the tournament in third place, expressing his satisfaction with the outcome. “It was incredible,” he said. “A tournament of this magnitude with such an expressive prize is sensational. I’ve been consistent with some good results and a few big losses, but this win crowns the work I’ve been doing.”

Reflecting on his trajectory within the tournament, Léo mentioned the challenges he faced, particularly in the 3-handed phase. He explained, “I progressed to Day 2 with a healthy stack, so initially, I could manage well. I lost a big pot with about 200 players left, which left me short. However, the tournament structure allowed me to maneuver my stack effectively, and I had a good sprint when there were about 50 players left, eventually reaching the final table as the chip leader.” He also discussed the complexities of the 3-handed phase, where he ended up in third place after a crucial post-flop spot.
