Landon Tice Quits High-Stakes Poker Match Against Bill Perkins
Landon Tice has sensationally quit his high-stakes heads-up poker match against Bill Perkins after just 4,907 hands, costing him and his backers over $380k.
Tice had given Perkins odds of 9bb/100, meaning he had to win by $720,000 to break even. After 4,907 hands, Tice was ahead by $63,720.4, but needed to win at 11bb/100 over the remaining 15,000 hands to profit.
Landon Tice's mother, Marni Tice, supported her son's decision, praising his humility and boldness. She wrote, "In the world we are living in, many people have a hard time admitting they may have made the wrong call. However, Landon Tice, I’m proud of you for recognising when things aren’t going your way and you consider those around you, those backing you and not just in it for yourself." Bill Perkins thanked his coaching team @PokerHybrid and @larasebastian for helping him improve, stating, "The team @PokerHybrid took a complete fish & turned me into a strong player in 3 months so I have to thank them & @larasebastian for giving me time to study."

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
