Koray Aldemir Wins 2021 WSOP Main Event, Takes Home $8 Million
Koray Aldemir has been crowned the 2021 World Series of Poker Main Event champion, earning $8 million and the coveted gold bracelet. The German player defeated George Holmes in a intense final hand, securing his place in poker history.
Three players returned to the final table with their sights set on the biggest prize in poker: England’s Jack Oliver, Koray Aldemir, and George Holmes. Oliver finished third, earning $3 million, while Holmes took second place, earning $4.3 million. Aldemir had a 2:1 chip lead over Holmes before the final hand, but Holmes slowly eroded that lead, causing Aldemir to admit he was 'pretty stressed' during the final hand.
In the final hand, Aldemir won with two pair against Holmes' top pair. Aldemir had 10♦ 7♦, while Holmes had K♣ Q♠. The flop was 10♥ 7♠ 2♥, giving Aldemir two pair. The turn was K♠, giving Holmes top pair. The river was 9♣, and Aldemir checked, allowing Holmes to go all-in. After a tense moment, Aldemir called, and his two pair held up, securing his victory.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
