Jake Balciger Reflects on WSOP 2012: From Cash Games to Big Tournaments
Jake Balciger, who finished third in the 2012 WSOP Main Event, received $3,799,073. However, he only kept 18.2% of his winnings, the rest going to his backers. Balciger had only played cash games before moving to Las Vegas, where he discovered live tournaments.
His main goal now is to continue playing offline and participating in expensive tournaments. He signed a contract with 888poker after the WSOP, which allowed him to participate in EPT Barcelona and WSOPE Cannes. Balciger plans to move to Canada to play online poker after graduating from college, where he studies political science.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
