Isaac Haxton Urges Poker Players to Avoid Live Games Amid COVID-19 Surge
Elite poker pro Isaac Haxton has expanded and clarified his thoughts and concerns about players continuing to play live poker as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to surge. Haxton mentioned that 1% of Nevada residents tested positive for COVID-19 in the last two weeks, with a positivity rate of over 20% per test, indicating many undetected cases.
Haxton clarified that he is calling for players to not play live poker, acknowledging that venues are structurally incapable of considering ethical responsibility. He urged players to avoid live games, stating that the risk of contracting COVID-19 in a poker room with 100 people is high, despite measures like masks and plexiglass.
Haxton also acknowledged the diverse opinions among poker players, noting that those who rely on live poker for income may face difficult decisions. He expressed hope that misinformed players would consider the seriousness of COVID-19 and the increased risk of playing live poker amid the surging cases.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
