Holla Ballas: The Legendary Poker Team's Rise and Bahamas Adventure
Holla Ballas, often considered one of the most successful poker teams in history, made a significant impact on the poker world, especially during the early days of online poker. The team won tens of millions of dollars, long before they could legally enter traditional casinos.
In May 2006, the team participated in a tournament organized by Paradise Poker at the Atlantis resort in the Bahamas. The tournament attracted over 300 participants, many of whom were under 21 years old. The team members included durrrr, Good2cu, Apathy, and FieryJustice. durrrr was known for his high-stakes cash games and volatile bankroll management, often playing at the edge of financial ruin.
The team enjoyed the island's attractions, including water slides and casinos. One night, they decided to visit the Mayan Temple attraction, where they encountered a 16-year-old girl and another poker player, sublime8700. durrrr offered $2,000 to anyone who would jump into the shark-infested lagoon and reach the bottom, adding to the team's legendary status.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
