Haralabos Voulgaris: From Poker to Soccer - Legendary Player Buys Spanish Club
Haralabos Voulgaris, a former high-stakes poker player, has made a surprising move into the world of soccer by purchasing Club Deportivo (CD) Castellón, a Spanish soccer club. Voulgaris has more than $3 million in recorded winnings on Hendon Mob, including a $1,158,883 cash from a 4th-place finish in the 2017 WSOP High Roller for One Drop.
Voulgaris is known for his participation in several televised cash games, including a memorable Poker After Dark hand from 2017 where he picked up aces against Phil Galfond. His poker career has been marked by significant wins and notable performances.
In addition to his poker career, Voulgaris has a notable history with the Dallas Mavericks. He was Director of Quantitative Research and Development for the team from 2018 until last summer, when he left after long-time general manager Donnie Nelson was sacked.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
