Giya Shulukhia's Poker Journey: From Kazan to International Success
Giya Shulukhia has been playing poker for several years, with his cash winnings tracked on Hendonmob since 2014. He made a name for himself in 2017 when the casino in Sochi opened, where he has had several notable wins and many final tables. In 2019, Giya Shulukhia finished second in the main event of the EPT Open series. His most significant win to date was in May 2021 when he won the main event of the partypoker MILLIONS North Cyprus series, earning $683,000.
Giya Shulukhia is from Kazan and has lived there since childhood. He started his poker career by helping organize games and was paid 5,000 rubles per shift. He also had a business in Kazan, which included various establishments such as cafes and retail stores. However, financial difficulties forced him to sell some of his assets and start over.
Giya Shulukhia won three tournaments in a row during his first visit to Azov, including the main event. He prefers tournament poker over cash games due to his strategic approach. His positive attitude and optimism have helped him in his poker career. Despite the challenges of his traveling lifestyle, his wife, Regina, supports him.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
