GGPoker's WSOP Fiasco: Over $1.5 Million in Compensation Payouts
GGPoker’s disastrous technical problems hosting the WSOP Series has cost them almost $1.5million in compensation payouts to affected players. The opening weekend of GGPoker’s 54 bracelet events fell flat on its face when a server crash saw Event #32, The Opener, and the WSOP Charity Event #33 both postponed.
The first session of technical issues cost GGPoker $368,400 in T$ refunds to 3,684 players, with an additional $177,378 in charity money. Last weekend's server issues cost GGPoker almost $900,000 in compensation to affected players. GGPoker faced additional issues including payout structures, registration problems, and technical responses.
GGPoker's issues included a confiscation of $180,000 from a high-stakes pro, leading to a public debate. Fedor Holz, a site ambassador, stated that GGPoker offered an amnesty to banned players and released a guide for expected behavior.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
