GG Poker Adds Five-Card Omaha: What You Need to Know

GG Poker introduced Five-Card Omaha tables in early April 2021, adding a new dimension to their poker offerings. This update includes a daily leaderboard with a $5,000 prize pool, making it an attractive option for players.

The rake structure for Five-Card Omaha on GG Poker is notably lower compared to PokerStars. For instance, starting from PL50, GG Poker takes a maximum of 2BB per hand, while PokerStars has a higher rake on micro-limits. Additionally, GG Poker's rake is taken on the pre-flop if there is at least a 3-bet, which is a significant difference from other rooms.

PokerStars introduced Five-Card Omaha in 2013, but it rarely gathers more than ten tables, even at higher limits. In contrast, GG Poker's Five-Card Omaha tables have seen a significant number of players within a few days of launch. Winamax is the only other major room offering Five-Card Omaha, but it does not accept new players from Russia and CIS countries. PPPoker has the most traffic for Five-Card Omaha, especially on low and medium limits, making it a popular alternative for players looking to try out this variant.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
