Flutter Reports 8% Drop in Online Poker Revenue Amid Industry Shifts
Flutter Entertainment, the parent company of PokerStars, Betfair, and Paddy Power, reported an 8% drop in online poker revenue during the first quarter of 2021. Despite this decline, Flutter CEO Peter Jackson expressed satisfaction with the overall performance of the poker business, attributing the drop to reduced traffic. The company noted that while the first two months of the year showed an increase in revenue, March's results were poor.
Wynn and Encore Las Vegas casinos have become the first in Nevada to return to full capacity operations. The Nevada Gaming Control Board approved this move after verifying that 88% of the staff at Wynn Las Vegas had been vaccinated. As a result, both properties can now operate at 100% occupancy, and plexiglass dividers have been removed from table games and slot machines. Wynn Resorts implemented a policy allowing employees to choose between vaccination or weekly negative tests.
MGM Resorts faced significant challenges, reporting a $246.7 million loss from revenues of $1.65 billion in Q1 2021. This represents a 27.1% drop, but there is optimism that Las Vegas is on the path to recovery. Penn National Gaming, Inc. announced the acquisition of Hit Point Studios and LuckyPoint to develop its own games and platforms, aiming to attract younger gamers and compete with rivals like DraftKings.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
