First Cryptocurrency Poker Tournament and Major WSOP Events
The first cryptocurrency poker tournament took place in March 2010 with a prize pool of 1,000 bitcoins, which would be worth $50 million today. The tournament was proposed by BitcoinFX on the Bitcointalk forum with a buy-in of 55 BTC, and the winner was dwdollar who received 600 BTC.
Dwdollar, the winner of the first cryptocurrency poker tournament, later founded the first Bitcoin exchange, Bitcoinmarket.com.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
