NFL Legend Rich Gannon: Fernando Mendoza Could Follow Sam Darnold's Path
Rich Gannon, a former NFL quarterback who played for 17 seasons, has shared his insights on the potential development of Fernando Mendoza, the 23-year-old quarterback for the Las Vegas Raiders. In a recent interview, Gannon compared Mendoza's potential career path to that of Sam Darnold, highlighting the importance of gaining experience and learning from adversity.
Gannon pointed out that many young quarterbacks struggle early in their careers but eventually find their footing. He used Sam Darnold as a prime example, noting that Darnold played for the New York Jets for four years before moving to the Carolina Panthers. During his time with the San Francisco 49ers, Darnold spent a year without playing, which allowed him to watch, listen, and learn from his surroundings.
After his stint with the Minnesota Vikings, Darnold joined the Seattle Seahawks and led the team to win the Super Bowl. Gannon emphasized that Darnold's journey, marked by adversity and growth, is a common trajectory for many young quarterbacks. He believes that Fernando Mendoza could follow a similar path, developing into a star quarterback with the right experiences and learning opportunities.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
