Fedor Holz Reflects on His Poker Career and Major Wins
Fedor Holz, a German poker player, has had a remarkable career filled with notable achievements. In 2014, Holz won the main event of the World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP). This victory was particularly significant because his friend David had won the same tournament the previous year. Holz's win brought him instant fame, but it also came with a twist—he had sold shares of his winnings to other players, which led to a smaller personal profit.
Despite the financial aspect, Holz felt a significant emotional impact upon receiving his bracelet at the WCOOP. He described the moment as one of the most emotional in his poker career, nearly bringing him to tears. This victory also brought a new level of responsibility, as his opinions and actions were now under greater scrutiny.
Following his WCOOP win, Holz transitioned to playing high-roller tournaments offline in 2015. One of his notable performances was at the European Poker Tour (EPT) in Monte-Carlo, where he made it to the final table. Holz's best period in poker was between August 2014 and September 2015, during which he consistently performed at a high level.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
