Fantasy Poker Drafts: The Golden Era is Over, but the Fun Continues
The golden age of fantasy poker drafts may be over, but the excitement remains. The traditional forum draft, with a $1,500 entry fee, featured 9 teams this year. Notably absent were experienced players Gipsy and Amke, as well as last year's winner Alexander "Люблюкатать" Kuzmin, who was stopped by U.S. customs at the last minute.
Alexander "iskander" Elensky and mako27 are among the experienced players who continue to dominate the drafts. Garry Yaroshovsky leads after the first week of play, but his team's depth and bench strength are concerns. Mako27 and hi100rich have stronger, more balanced rosters.
The free fantasy draft on GipsyTeam's main page has a new sponsor, King's Casino in Rozvadov, and new rules. Players must now choose from those selected in the forum draft, making the task more challenging for casual players. The most popular players in the free draft are Dan Smith, Jason Mercier, and Mikhail Semen. The least popular include Georgiy Belianin, Chris Kladny, and Randy Ohel.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
