Erik Seidel Controversy: Did He Steal Blinds from Max Kruse?
Erik Seidel, a legendary poker player with over 34 million dollars in live tournament winnings and 8 WSOP bracelets, recently found himself in a controversial situation during the WSOP 2020.
During a heads-up championship at WSOP 2020, Seidel played against Max Kruse, a football player. Kruse's box was in sitout for a long time, and Seidel took his blinds. This action sparked debate within the poker community about whether Seidel's actions were justified.
Seidel admitted that taking blinds was a mistake and he did not know his opponent was a football player. He stated that he thought if Kruse did not return, his buy-in would be returned. This is not the first time such a situation has occurred in Seidel's career; he mentioned that it had happened twice before in live poker events.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
