EPT Madrid 1B: Mestre, GrinderSpa, and jonyCTT Shine on Day 1
EPT Madrid 1B saw a strong turnout with nearly 500 players, including over 100 Spanish participants. Among the notable players was Raúl Mestre, a poker professor known for his aggressive style. Mestre doubled his stack in level 4 with a pre-flop pair of KK against 99, and later eliminated a dangerous player from the table by winning a hand with KQ against KJ. Despite a strong start, Mestre ended Day 1B with 55k chips, above the average of 48k.
José Ángel Latorre, known as Cejakas, had a tough day and was eliminated early after losing with KK against AA. Rubén Setién, known as GrinderSpa, ended the day with 56k chips, slightly above the average. Jonathan Concepción, known as jonyCTT, had a strong performance in the later levels and finished with 60k chips.
Efrén García, known as miedomeda, and Javier Domínguez, known as Thalai, will join Raúl Mestre, Rubén Setién, and Jonathan Concepción in Day 2. The tournament continues to build excitement as Spanish players aim to make their mark on the EPT Madrid leaderboard.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
