Spanish Poker Pros Pablo Fernández and Javier Etayo Score Big at EPT Grand Final

Pablo Fernández (@pablotenisis) and Javier Etayo made history at the EPT Grand Final in Montecarlo. The Spanish poker pros became the first from their country to make it into the prize money at an EPT event. Pablo Fernández finished 59th, earning €18,500. Javier Etayo finished 73rd, earning €16,000.

Pablo Fernández expressed some dissatisfaction with his elimination hand, but overall, he was content with his performance in the tournament. He tweeted, “de vuelta a casa... bustee hace un par de horas... 78ss en 7t23 dos picas vs JJ...”

Adrián Mateos Díaz (@Amadi_17) had a tougher time at the EPT Grand Final. He was eliminated early in the tournament, tweeting, “La burbuja tardaba en estallar y, cuando lo hizo, se metían en premios, por primera vez en un EPT, el Cum Laude 'pablotenisis' y Javier Etayo.”

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
