EPT Grand Final Moves to Madrid: All You Need to Know

The European Poker Tour (EPT) Grand Final is moving from Monte-Carlo to Madrid. The event will be held from May 7 to 12, 2011, at the Casino Gran Madrid. This marks a significant change after six years in Monte-Carlo.

The buy-in for the main event is €10,600. PokerStars will host satellites starting from February 28, 2011, providing players from around the world the opportunity to qualify. The event is expected to bring €10,000,000 to Madrid's economy, with half of that amount staying in the city from players and spectators, and the other half from media revenues.

Daniel Negreanu expressed excitement about the move to Madrid, stating that he is looking forward to visiting the city. However, Ilya Gorodeckiy noted that the casino's location in the suburbs is a disadvantage, as it is not close to high-end hotels and requires a significant travel time.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
