From Poker Player to Poker Innovator: Egor's Journey
Egor's journey from programming to poker and his new venture in the poker business is a story of self-discovery and innovation. Egor moved to Moscow in 2000 to study at Moscow State University (MGU). Initially, he worked as a programmer at Yandex, starting in the Market division and later moving to the Search division. However, Egor became interested in poker after losing interest in his work at Yandex.
Egor left Yandex to focus on poker, despite having a bankroll of around $4,000 and impending family expenses. He believes that poker has helped him develop emotional control and mindfulness. "When u have all good in poker, when u have an ap, u dont care, but when two million hands destroy u, u have to work very hard to control ur emotions during the game," Egor said.
Egor's new venture aims to innovate in the poker business by addressing issues with existing poker rooms. His experience at Yandex taught him to recognize patterns in data, which he applies to his poker analysis. Egor's new idea involves creating a system to analyze poker data more efficiently than existing tools like Holdem Manager. "There is a lot of work in analyzing information that no one does because it is long, complex, and boring," Egor explained.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
