Eagles in Turmoil: Hurts Out, Roseman's Moves Under Scrutiny

Philadelphia Eagles' quarterback Jalen Hurts has been ruled out for the rest of the season following a blood clot diagnosis. This news comes as the team faces a critical trade deadline in three weeks. Eagles general manager Howie Roseman, known for his strategic trades, has already made one significant move by trading an offensive lineman for two draft picks from Baltimore, including a 2028 second-round selection.

The Eagles currently have one of the worst offenses in the NFL and a suspect offensive line, which has been further complicated by the retirement of star right tackle Lane Johnson and injuries to guard Landon Dickerson and superstar running back Saquon Barkley. Top receiver DeVonta Smith is also hurt, adding to the team's woes. The Eagles are trying to move standout offensive lineman Landon Dickerson to another team as soon as he is healthy.

The team's situation is further complicated by the injury to Hurts and the scrutiny surrounding how the Eagles handled it. This has raised major questions about the team's direction and the future of head coach Nick Sirianni and the quarterback position. Despite these challenges, the Eagles still have a viable path to a home playoff game in the middling NFC East division. The Eagles were heavily invested in evaluating QBs in the 2026 draft, and had Texas Tech QB Brendan Sorsby been allowed to enter the supplementals, Roseman would have used a second-round pick to try and land him.
