Drew Gonzalez: From 9-5 to Poker Pro – His Inspiring Journey
Drew Gonzalez, a professional poker player and streamer, has an inspiring story to share. He decided to dedicate his time to becoming a poker professional in 2010 after growing tired of his 9-5 job and realizing his passion for the game. The freedom and control that comes with being a poker pro were exciting to him, and he was ready to take the risk.
Gonzalez's journey to becoming an ACR sponsored pro began in 2019 when he started developing a relationship with ACR through Bill Perkins’ ThirstLounge 10 project. This project opened many doors for him, including the opportunity to become an ACR team pro. Gonzalez changed his nickname to BetOnDrew after joining the ACR team.
One of the most important pieces of advice Gonzalez has for aspiring poker pros is the importance of bankroll management. He believes that managing your poker business and assets is crucial for success. Additionally, Gonzalez considers the Thirst Lounge project a life-changer that opened many doors for him. His biggest goal is to become a 500+ average viewer streamer, and he is working hard to achieve it.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
