DraftKings, FanDuel, and the NFL are named as defendants in a lawsuit claiming their betting platforms are designed to be addictive. The Public Health Advocacy Institute filed the complaint, alleging that Pennsylvania residents Christopher Sage and Terry Thompson developed gambling addictions after using the platforms.
The lawsuit targets micro-betting, which allows users to bet on almost any play or action during a game. The NFL was included as a defendant because the firm said the league had a “a sizable equity stake” in Genius Sports.
The lawsuit alleges that micro-betting allows for wagering on “virtually limitless array of events” and is available “from anywhere, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.” The plaintiffs allege the companies made use of VIP programs, rewarding players with trips, gifts, and promotions to keep them gambling.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
