Douglas Polk's High-Stakes Poker Struggles in November 2013
Douglas Polk, known as WCGRider, had a challenging November 2013 in the high-stakes poker world. He expressed his respect for forhayley's 6-max game and his willingness to play against him even at 25/50 stakes.
Polk faced significant financial setbacks, losing over $400,000 on FTP and PokerStars. He tried to switch to 6-max games but encountered sit-outs from other players. Despite his efforts, he was unable to find consistent action and continued to struggle.
In an attempt to diversify his game, Polk started playing PLO against Ruyao Chao on four tables at $100/$200 stakes. However, this move did not yield better results. He lost $290,000 to Chao and $250,000 to Odd_Oddsen, and was unable to secure a rematch with the latter. Polk mentioned that some players avoid playing PLO with him due to his reputation in NL, but he believed that many would still be willing to play with him. He also noted that Ruyao Chao is not very strong in PLO at the moment.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
