David 'Viffer' Peat Returns to High-Stakes Poker After 9-Year Break
After nearly a decade away from the poker tables, David “Viffer” Peat has made a triumphant return to high-stakes poker. The legendary player, known for his unconventional style and sharp wit, announced his comeback with a tweet teasing his appearance in the Hustler Live high-stakes games.
Peat's nickname 'Viffer' originated from a drunken incident involving a pool cue. He took a break from poker around 8 or 9 years ago to focus on family life, moving from Las Vegas to Boston. During his hiatus, Peat described his passion for poker as all-consuming, even during intimate moments.
His return to poker was sparked by the Hustler Live high-stakes games on YouTube. Peat reached out to Ryan Feldman, the show’s co-founder and producer, who welcomed him back. Despite feeling rusty, Peat expressed his enthusiasm for the game and the fun atmosphere of the show.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
