David Hendricks Wins Poker Tournament Despite Spinal Muscular Atrophy
David Hendricks, known as AtomBomb, won a $200 tournament at Pearl River Poker Open in Mississippi. The 30-year-old Hendricks has spinal muscular atrophy, a condition that is typically fatal in childhood. Despite his condition, Hendricks has been passionate about poker since discovering it at the age of 14 through Doyle Brunson's Super System book.
Hendricks had to adapt his poker playing style due to his physical limitations. He developed a method of playing against the position at the table rather than specific players. His grandmother helps him attend poker tournaments, and he got a tattoo of a red ace to always have an 'ace up his sleeve'.
In other news, Mike Postle dropped his defamation lawsuit against Veronica Brill, Joe Ingram, Doug Polk, Phil Galfond, and PokerNews. Veronica Brill plans to donate any compensation she receives from Mike Postle to Kenneth Clouton, who also has spinal muscular atrophy. Todd Witteles plans to recover $43,314 from Mike Postle for legal expenses and attorney fees.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
