Daniel Negreanu Sparks Debate: Who Are the Greatest Poker Players?

Daniel Negreanu recently made waves in the poker community with his comments about Tom Dwan. In an interview with Poker Player, Negreanu stated that he does not consider Dwan to be one of the best poker players in the world. Negreanu's remarks sparked a discussion about what defines a great poker player.

Barry Carter, a columnist for PokerStrategy, wrote an article discussing how to measure greatness in poker. Carter noted that Negreanu's interview was conducted in March, before the PokerStars vs. Full Tilt match, and should be considered in the context of pre-match banter. Despite this, Negreanu's comments about respected players like Dwan seemed extreme. Carter also mentioned that strong poker players might provoke weaker ones to get action.

Carter emphasized that great poker players should have a stable and consistent performance over time. He argued that one successful tournament series or year does not make a player great. Carter's insights provide a thoughtful perspective on the ongoing debate about greatness in poker.
