Daniel Negreanu: Poker Players Should Be Allowed to Use VPNs

Daniel Negreanu, the ambassador of GGpoker, appeared on the podcast 'Orbita' to discuss online poker control and its impact on the industry. During the episode, Negreanu stated that he does not care where players are located as long as they are who they claim to be.

Negreanu's stance on VPN usage contrasts with the policies of many poker platforms. For instance, PokerStars revoked the entire winnings of $1,350,000 from the champion of WCOOP 2018 for using a VPN. This incident highlights the strict measures some platforms take against VPN use.

Despite Negreanu's support for VPN usage, GGpoker explicitly prohibits the use of VPNs or proxies to access their platform from restricted jurisdictions. This policy is clearly stated in their terms and conditions, emphasizing their stance against bypassing geographical restrictions.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
