Daniel Negreanu Challenges High-Stakes Online Poker Players
Daniel Negreanu has thrown down the gauntlet to high-stakes online poker players, asserting that he could learn to win at their level within just two weeks. This bold claim has sparked a flurry of reactions from the poker community.
Bren 'YaAaRnY' Lenton made a bet to win 100 buy-ins in a month playing PLO $5/$10 and higher. Negreanu's challenge came in response to a tweet about Lenton's bet, where he stated that he could learn to win at high-stakes online poker within two weeks. This claim was met with skepticism from several high-stakes online players, including Douglas 'WCGRider' Polk, who criticized Negreanu's assertion, stating that high-stakes online poker requires specific skills and a deep understanding of poker mathematics.
Negreanu acknowledged that the level of online poker has increased significantly over the years and mentioned the use of scripts that help regulars instantly join weak players. He also highlighted that he lives in Las Vegas, where online poker is not allowed, making it difficult for him to test his hypothesis. Despite this, Negreanu promised to 'give the guys action' if the legislation changes, allowing him to play online poker from Las Vegas.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
