In a thrilling clash at the World Series of Poker final table, Maurice Hawkins eliminated Daniel Negreanu with a full house. Negreanu had a flush draw but the river card sealed his fate.
Daniel Negreanu and Maurice Hawkins clashed at the World Series of Poker final table. With eight players remaining and blinds at 250,000-500,000 and a 500,000 big blind ante, action folded around to Negreanu in the hijack. He raised to 1,750,000. Hawkins three-bet from the big blind, wagering enough to put Negreanu all in. Negreanu called for 4,675,000 total, and the hands were revealed. Negreanu had K♥Q♥9♣7♣, while Hawkins held A♣A♥J♦2♦.
Despite being up against aces, Negreanu’s odds stood around 42%, thanks to his two live flush draws and coordinated cards. The 6♥4♥4♦ flop offered direct outs for Negreanu, who needed one more heart to make a flush. The 10♥ provided exactly what Negreanu was after, making his flush. According to the Card Player Omaha odds calculator, Hawkins had a 10% chance of claiming the pot following this turn card. The river was the 4♠, making Hawkins a full house, fours full of aces. Hawkins shouted, “Let’s go!” twice as he stood up from the table in excitement. Negreanu, resigned to his fate, headed out in eighth place ($24,347).

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
