Daniel Dvoress: The Optimistic High Roller from Canada
Daniel Dvoress, known as Oxota, is a Canadian poker player who speaks Russian. Dvoress started playing poker in school and quickly learned the rules with the help of friends who studied mathematics. He began his online poker career with a $4 bankroll and eventually reached the $50/$100 level. Dvoress has earned over $3.8 million in live tournaments, with more than half of his career earnings coming in 2017. He has never won a first-place prize in any tournament but has had five of his best results in super high roller tournaments in 2017.
Dvoress prefers to take breaks from poker and enjoys activities like fishing, hiking, and scuba diving. He spends about two weeks a year traveling to and from tournaments. Dvoress is optimistic about the future of high roller tournaments and sees growth in participation.
Dvoress initially planned to pursue psychology but switched to mathematics and returned to poker. He has a unique perspective on the role of luck and skill in poker, believing that the skills he developed in poker can be applied to other aspects of life. Dvoress is known for his rational thinking and understanding of the role of dispersion and luck in everyday life.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
