Connor Drinan Wins WSOP Event #83
Connor Drinan won the WSOP Event #83. The final day of the event lasted two and a half hours, with 800 entries forming a prize pool of 8,720,300$. Drinan won 1,423,000$ for his victory. Two Russian players, Arseny Malinov and Viktor Ustimov, played at the final table. Malinov finished in 8th place, earning 152,000$, while Ustimov finished in 3rd place, earning 755,000$. Daniar Aubakirov from Kazakhstan was the runner-up, earning 1,041,000$.
In the heads-up, Drinan faced Daniar Aubakirov from Kazakhstan. Aubakirov had a chance to bring his country its first gold bracelet, but Drinan showed excellent play. In the final hand of the tournament, Drinan's A-9 beat Aubakirov's A-J when a nine hit on the river.
Drinan also won a side bet of 100,000$ from Daniel Negreanu. Before the series began, Negreanu offered players a bracelet bet of 100,000$. Drinan was one of the players who accepted the side bet. The bet would have resulted in a tie if neither player won a bracelet or both won bracelets. However, since Drinan won the bracelet in the last tournament of the series, he will receive the payout from Negreanu.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
