Chess.com Enters Poker Training with New Gambit Platform
Chess.com has launched a new platform called Gambit that offers poker training tools. The new Gambit site allows players to learn how to play and rate their skills without risking any real money. It incorporates a rating system similar to its chess offering.
Chess.com Chief Growth Officer Albert Cheng said, 'Real money is the problem we built Gambit to get away from. The whole industry makes money when beginners lose. We’d rather build a place where people can actually learn.'
The site uses a similar Elo rating system as seen in chess. Gambit plans to add other games in the coming months. Chess grandmaster and poker pro Jennifer Shahade spoke with Card Player’s Poker Stories podcast in 2022. Former chess champion Victoria Livschitz has also taken up high-stakes poker in recent years.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
