Chance Kornuth and Phil Galfond to Battle in High-Stakes Heads-Up on September 16

Poker professionals Chance Kornuth and Phil Galfond have agreed on a date for their highly anticipated heads-up battle. The match, set to begin on September 16, will consist of 35,000 hands played at high stakes of 100€/200€. The stakes are high, with Kornuth set to receive 1,000,000 euros if he emerges victorious, but if he loses, he will have to pay Galfond 250,000 euros.

Chance Kornuth, known for his impressive poker career, has won two WSOP gold bracelets and has earned approximately $7,500,000 in live tournament winnings. This upcoming battle is just one of the significant events in Kornuth's poker schedule. He is also preparing for the final table of the WPT Gardens Poker Championship, which was originally planned for March but has been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Kornuth has been using the time leading up to the battle to study his opponent's gameplay. Galfond's previous games, streamed on Twitch, have provided Kornuth with valuable insights into his strategy. The heads-up battle is not the only challenge Kornuth faces; the postponed WPT Gardens Poker Championship final adds another layer of complexity to his preparations.
