Cambodia to Halt Online Gambling Starting in October

Cambodia will suspend online gambling starting in October. The suspension comes as Cambodia combats online scams, illegal gambling, money laundering, and other crimes.

All casinos in Cambodia must halt iGaming activities. The suspension was confirmed by Cambodia's Interior Minister, Sar Sokha. Nearly 30,000 people from 39 nationalities were arrested for various crimes, including online scams and money laundering, from July 2025 through August 31, 2026.

Casinos violating the ban will face prosecution or license revocation. During the suspension, Cambodia will develop a comprehensive framework to combat online crimes and enhance regulation.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
