Bryan 'sbrugby' Townsend Reflects on Poker Career and Future Plans
Bryan 'sbrugby' Townsend, a prominent figure in the poker world, has reflected on the past year, which has been both challenging and rewarding. About 11.5 months ago, he was stripped of his red status on Full Tilt and blocked on PokerStars, marking a low point in his career. Townsend ended the year at zero, barely escaping the worst downswing of his life.
Despite the setbacks, Townsend set a goal to build a bankroll of $100,000 playing only PLO and succeeded, winning $2.5 million in the past 11 months. He has been playing at the highest stakes, moving from $25/$50 to $300/$600. This achievement has given him the confidence to explore new directions in his poker career.
Looking ahead, Townsend plans to study mixed games and has already started playing 20/40 and 40/80, which is roughly equivalent to 5/10 and 10/20 in pot-limit/no-limit poker. He believes that diversifying his game will make him a more well-rounded player and better prepare him for the future of high-stakes poker.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
