Brad Lidge: Phillies Have a Strong Shot at the 2026 World Series
Brad Lidge, the former Philadelphia Phillies closer and 2008 World Series champion, has shared his thoughts on the Phillies' chances of winning the World Series in 2026. In an exclusive interview with Casino Guru, Lidge expressed his confidence in the team's abilities, stating that they have "as good a shot as anybody" this year.
Lidge believes that the Phillies' rotation is one of the best from one through five, which he considers a crucial element for postseason success. He also highlighted the improved bullpen, mentioning the addition of Alex McFarland and the strong performances of Jhoan Duran and Jose Alvarado. Lidge backs Jhoan Duran to close out a World Series and names him as one of the top closers in MLB.
When asked about key players, Lidge named Zack Wheeler as the Phillies starter he would trust in a must-win postseason game. He also expressed his belief in Bryce Harper's ability to deliver if the season came down to one at-bat. Additionally, Lidge discussed the Astros' future, suggesting that their dominant era could be coming to an end and putting Yordan Alvarez ahead of "just about anybody, including Ohtani."

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
