Bill Perkins Praises Landon Tice's Decision to Withdraw from Poker Match
Bill Perkins has publicly stated that Landon Tice's decision to withdraw from their high-stakes poker match was a wise one. Perkins, a hedge fund manager, found himself in a challenging position after Landon Tice offered him 9bb/100 odds for a match, an opportunity Perkins couldn't resist.
After 4,907 hands out of a scheduled 20,000, Perkins was down $63,270. However, this deficit was not enough for Tice to secure a win if the match continued at that rate. Tice tweeted, “As a team we decided to surrender. We see no other way to proceed. He’s a much stronger player than expected and I took on more than I could handle.”
Perkins credited his team, Matt Boyd and MJ Gonzales, for his performance. The duo, who also assisted Daniel Negreanu in the High Stakes Feud, relentlessly drilled Perkins in spots where they assessed he was weak, removing as many weaknesses from his game as possible in the build-up preparation.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
