Poker and Casino Millionaires: Where the Big Money Went in 2020
2020 was a year of significant wins for both poker and casino games. Tim Adams, a well-known high-stakes poker pro, earned nearly $6 million in tournament earnings. His victories included a $1.5 million win in Australia against Kahle Burns and a $3.6 million win in Russia against Christoph Vogelsang.
Fedor Holz, another prominent poker player, won $2 million online in a short period. Holz's career earnings now stand at $32.5 million, with a notable $6 million payday from the 2018 World Series of Poker.
Stoyan Madanzhiev topped the money list at the 2020 World Series of Poker, earning $3,910,705 for his Main Event victory. Wenling Gao's runner-up spot in the same event earned her nearly $2.75 million, marking the biggest cash by a female player in history.
Online casinos also saw massive payouts, including a $20 million MegaMoolah jackpot in January. Additional slot jackpots of over $12 million and $3.5 million were also awarded. The US online casino market saw a 300% rise in revenues, equating to about $300 million per quarter.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
